Buying a truck is difficult. This year the Chaos Communication Camp will take place at Ziegeleipark Mildenberg. It is a great event for nerds. But there is a problem: it is a camp. I own a tent, which I used previously. But my girl friend decided that she does not like tents. Houston, we have problem. So out of the blue I looked around for alternatives to a tent. I asked friends who own a camper. But unfortunately this camper will not be...
In February I was in Japan. I was in Japan, because I were going to attend the Winter Wonderland Tour from Martin Bailey. But before, I stayed some time in Tokyo. On Friday at about lunch I arrived at my hotel, the Prince Hotel Complex at Shinagawa Station. I choose this, because it used to be the meeting point for the tour. The hotel complex consists of mainly two hotels, the Main Tower and the East Tower. I stayed in the East Tower, because...
This morning we went out the 2nd time to do some shootings on the sea eagles. Unfortunately, the last night was very cold, so we had a lot of ice on the sea and we couldn’t get out as far we liked. Because of that we had way to many ravens in the area around. On the other side, for me it was still a good day. It took time to look at the birds and their behavior and as such I hopefully had a couple of great shoots. Some of them id like to...
It was a tough morning. We had to get up at 4:00 a.m., because we left the port at 5:30 a.m. for the Sea Eagles. The weather not so cold as expected. The ship was packed with people. We had a beautiful sunrise with lots of Sea Eagles. Some of the shoots came out quite nice. This morning was like to shoot the eagles to get the picture and to learn. The next two mornings will be to refine the ideas and the get THE picture.
I am in Japan, in Tokyo, Japan. I am with Martin Bailey and David DuChemin on a photography tour. How does this happened? Back in the fall of 2012 I have got reminded that Martin Bailey offers a photography tour to the Snow Monkeys and around the national parks on Hokkaido. Martin offered two tours, one with Chris Marquardt and on with David DuChemin. I know Chris already from many previous trips in Germany and in the Himalayas. David, I only...
It is over and it has not even started. This years trek to the holy mountain to Mt. Kailash is over and has not even started. The original planning were that by today we drive up to Bhaktapur, stay there a night to be early at the border to Tibet by tomorrow. But things have changed. We got rolled over by the news. Just a view days ago it happened that the protests by Tibetean monks at the Kirti Monastery happened, which ended up by locking...
It happened to me: I had my first trip to India for business reasons. I was scheduled to go to the Wind Power India 2011. My presentation at the conference was not accepted so I just visited the fair ground. The fair ground was one main hall and a one small hall. In the main hall a huge space was devoted to a shared space for companies from Denmark. That was then also the main message as seen on the other booths: distributors from...
